RESEARCH INTERESTS
Luciana Ghiotto works on issues linked to globalization from international economic relations, especially trade and investment governance issues. She has published on the regulatory chapters of Free Trade Agreements, with emphasis on the effects of trade and investment treaties of Latin American countries. Currently she analyzes Bilateral Investment Treaties and international arbitration claims brought by foreign companies against Argentina and various Latin American countries.
She also works closely with civil society actors, trade unions and has expertise advising representatives in Congress on the issues of the Trade and Investment agenda in different countries – Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Brazil. She is an associate researcher at the Transnational Institute (TNI). In 2014 she served as an External Consultant for the Audit Commission on Investment Treaties and the Arbitration System (CAITISA), in the Republic of Ecuador.
Ghiotto obtained the «Mexican Government Scholarships for Foreigners 2008» which allowed her to undertake doctoral research at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla under the supervision of John Holloway.
