Argentina in the geopolitics of ideas of the global far-right

A project that examines the political imaginary of the libertarian movement of Javier Milei

The objective is to examine the worldview of the Argentine libertarian movement led by Javier Milei and his political force La Libertad Avanza. The study analyzes how it integrates within the geopolitics of global far-right ideological currents. It also explores the movement’s contribution to debates over the reconfiguration of the international system’s institutional, symbolic, and discursive architecture. The conceptual approach of political imaginaries is used to analyze how the libertarian movement understands the international order. Through this lens, the study seeks to determine this movement’s specific role and singular contribution to global far-right imaginaries within the context of the current systemic crisis. The analysis focuses on five key dimensions: foreign policy, presidentialist diplomacy, climate denialism, defense and international security policies, and relations with China. The project is is aligned with research agenda of the Centre for International Studies, School of Politics and Government, National University of San Martin (UNSAM), Argentina.
